VivAsia Fitness was created from the desire to explore the Asian culture through the medium of aerobic dance. The Lotus program evolved while Ying was pursuing a master’s degree in Kinesiology. Her graduate research project focused on the effect of a culturally-inspired aerobic dance program on the functional fitness and perceived health of older adults. The results provided the evidence for the need to provide fitness classes that are inspired by all cultures to this population and other underserved populations.
